As the credit crunch seems to be still with us, South Shore has decided to reduce prices on selected room for the Summer. Following some very positive feedback from our guests, we hope this will enable people to enjoy their stay even more.

Set-up the network security and ran standard range of checks. Everything appears to work as expected. Should be able to "go-live" tomorrow.
Signal strength now rated 'excellent' for all floors. That translates to a near optimum download and upload speed for an 11g WAN! (Wide Area Network).

Next step is to set up an Access Point Bridge on the top floor with more or less line-of-sight to the main router using the stairwell.

Added hi-gain antenna's. This simple step gave a significant jump in signal strength to the rooms on the first floor.

To ensure the best connection for our guests, whichever room they where in, we re-designed the wireless network from the ground up. This meant moving the cable feed, modem and router to the best position then re-cabling the wired links for the LAN. The first test was very promising with all rooms receiving the broadcast signal, but not yet with sufficient strength.

In response to requests for internet access, we have decided to redesign South Shore's LAN (network) to be able to offer Wireless Broadband Access for all our guests.
